In three situations I find that easy_install leads to site breakage.

http://dev.plone.org/plone/ticket/7510
-- sudo ./easy_install plone.browserlayer

http://plone.org/products/collective.portlet.feedmixer/issues/2
-- sudo ./easy_install collective.portlet.feedmixer

http://plone.org/products/ploneboard/issues/157
-- sudo ./easy_install Products.Ploneboard

Plone sites break; http://localhost:8080/manage reports

> This object from the CMFPlone product is broken!

and in each case:

* I'm using the easy_install provided with Plone
* Plone installation prior to breakage is fresh/clean

Any suggestions?

Mac OS X is a common factor. Mixture of PowerPC and Intel.

I'm considering references to easy_install and broken in four threads --
