Not bogus, but I understand the confusion.
Please see <http://plone.org/support/posting-to-plone-forums>: you
register just once for Nabble, then use Nabble to simplify
subscription to relevant lists.
Thanks for the clarification, Graham. I went back and reproduced the steps on
another computer, and I see what happened. The steps were something like:
1. Google for a topic
2. Navigate to one of the results (message in this thread)
3. Click on "see this message in context"
4. Click on "reply" button
5. Get "you can't post anonymously" page, telling me to register with Nabble
6. Fill out registration information
7. Go find email message to confirm registration
8. Click on link in email message
9. Get message confirming that I'm registered
10. Go back to complete posting
11. Posting page is immediately overlaid with fake popup
12. Click on "I'm a subscriber let me post now"
13. Get "your post is rejected" message
By the time I got to step 12, I was getting impatient, and beginning to wonder
if this was really worth it, and I assumed the interface was using the
terminology "registration" and "subscription" interchangeably. I made this
assumption (not reading the rest of the fake popup in step 11) partly because I
was losing interest in what was beginning to seem like an annoyingly complex
process, and partly because back in the early steps in the sequence there was
no indication of the complexity to come. The "you can't post anonymously, you
need to register with Nabble" first led me to believe that that's all there was
to getting to "I can post a reply." I've participated in many forums and
mailing lists in the past couple of decades, and this sequence of steps bears
no resemblance to any of my previous experiences. I bet I'm not the first.
Thanks again for taking the time to clarify things.
Cheers,
Bob
PS: I still get those "your post is rejected" even now that I'm really
registered, and the posts are actually appearing in the thread. That's why I
used the term "bogus."
