I'm not sure how portal_migration works but one thing you may need to
do in this scenario is rebuild the catalog if the final folder
structure has changed. You can get some pretty strange errors due to
searches occurring on a completely different plone instance.
NB. To be clear this is "clear and rebuild", not "update" catalog.

I have two sites running on two different zope servers with Plone
2.5.5 (site A) and Plone 2.5.1 (site A). I want to consolidate the
two sites to one zeo server (different machine as the other two)
running Plone 2.5.5. My plan was to create two filestorage mount
points for the two sites on the zeo server, then bring over the
products from site A, and then bring over the data.fs files for both
sites. Site A should be running, and site B would need to go through
portal migration. Site B did not follow the plan...
I setup Plone 2.5.5 on the target machine with different file
storage elements in zeo.conf and client1 and client2 zope.conf and
added the mount points for the two sites. At the root of this Plone
site I have two mount points - site A and site B with running
vanilla plone sites. I added the missing products from site A to the
Products/ of the new site (in client1 and client2), and brought over
the Data.fs for site A. Site A is now running on the new server and
is very happy.
I then tried to move the Data.fs from site B (Plone 2.5.1) to the
new server, thinking I could do a portal migration of that data from
Plone 2.5.1 to Plone 2.5.5 and add in the missing broken products.
However, under the portal migration tab it says the file system and
site are both at 2.5.5. When I access the site, all I see is a
vanilla plone site and not site B. There should be broken products
in the site, but they do not show up. There are no error messages in
zeo.log.
What am I doing wrong? Is my plan flawed? How can I bring these two
sites under one zeo server on one machine?
Thanks!
Mark
