It's always a bad idea to delete a user:

* content has to be reassigned (new owner, reindex, blablabla...)
* A new person can register with the old userid and if you don't have done
previous stuff ...
* If you delete contents you can easily have inconsistency (forum post,
shared content, ....)
* How do you handle comments ?

A good idea:
Let the user exists in the database, edit user properties to
[email protected], firstname="nomoreregistred", ... and add a redirect in
his home folder
Change the display of author viewlet to handle that case by displaying sth
like "this user is not more registred"

I have done this for a community website (An old site), it works great !
