It is not possible to add classes from the internal link buttons in TinyMCE ? I have the same need, but can't teach html to my customer. May be we should improve tinymce plone integration to let integrator register a list of 'css classes' available on internal link.
On your add-on: * this is not a good idea to replace link tag with img tags of all photos. If you have lots of photos it will make the browser die (I have done tests with 300 photos for collective.gallery. This is an issue. see that page: http://www.nantes-developpement.com/images , there are about 700 images. An other thing: you wake up all objects to build the template, you should consider use brains from catalog query.
