You are aware that as much as the UN deserves criticism, all countries
try to influence the organization for their own benefit (politics,
right?). The US use its power of veto on anything that doesn't attend
its own interests at the expense of the majority when it finds it
necessary (fair or unfair matters).

That's the problem. The UN doesn't bend automatically to the commands
of it's major monetary contributor, so it's easy to say the
organization "doesn't work".

But the US won't pull out because they have to have influence on the
organization.

We have our own issues to deal with here.  If they (whomever "they" are)
don't want us there (and/or aren't willing to foot the bill rather than
the US taxpayers paying for it), then we shouldn't be there.
