I've always despised this position. You should get it because you're the best qualified candidate....not because of a preference due to gender/sexuality/race/whatever. I recall hearing years ago that a white male had a slim chance of becoming a PA State Trooper. (Although I gotta say that most of the ones I know are WM.)
