Your suggestion sounds the solution, but in the absence of that, I've had
this problem a few times and normally traced it down to sharing security
settings as I'm suer you know that the sharing settings and security
settings are different - even though they seem to do the same job.

Also, are you using group policies at all? If so then make sure the resource
is shared correctly in the apropriate policy.

Subject: [NF] AD Printer madness

Hi All,

Got a bit of a weird issue with Active Directory at the moment and I was
just wondering if anyone else has come across this one before?

I have just installed a laser printer on a PC connected to the AD (as the
admin) and shared it out. Of course when you do this it adds it to the AD.

All good here! Printer works okay and the object exists in the AD.

Now if I try and install the printer on another machine by searching the AD
and then double clicking on it... boom, I get the following message pop
up...

"Windows cannot connect to the printer. Either the printer name was typed
incorrectly or the specified printer has lost its connection to the server."

Now I know the printer is fine, because if I add it via the share name
instead of using the AD, it installs okay and prints fine.

Any suggestions (apart from kicking AD out of the window!)?

Cheers
