Curious:

1. Anyone using 3rd party webservices?

2. Anyone providing webservice interfaces to their customers?

3. Anyone using their own webservices internally?

I'm sure I've mentioned this here before. We have a client that is
in the background screening industry. They have a VFP based
desktop/client/server application they sell to this industry.

Background screens can range from reports on credit, criminal,
education, employment and driving histories to professional licensing.

There are several national aggregators of a lot of information,
but quite a lot of it is spread out all over the country and in
some cases requires manual verification.

We've built several VFP based web services that in some
cases query third party aggregator's web services and in
some cases act as the aggregator and reporter.

Their local VFP based application talks to all the different
VFP based web services and third party web services through
a common VFP web service all running on their servers in our
data center. The VFP web services act as the glue and middle
man for it all and handles thousands of transactions per day.

In addition we use VFP web services to send and receive
updates and information between our local VFP systems
and our VFP based eCommerce sites.

We also use web services to query our distributors product
availability, pricing and location. We can also place orders,
query/change exisiting orders, etc.
Since we work with about 8 different distributors with almost
100 warehouse locations, we built a local VFP based system
to deal with it all.

Finally, web services are involved in all our shipping with
FedEx, UPS and DHL. I want to build a VFP shipping
module that will do it all, but right now it only queries the
lowest cost/fastest service.
