I hope I didn't paint too negative of a picture of REALbasic. Yes, it
has "basic" in it's name but it is *not* Visual Basic. Strong typed,
full OO, native data engine built on SQLite. In fact many RB
programmers write games in RB using its sprite features, and other
things that I know nothing about.
RB has been focusing on a change so that RB can run natively on the
Intel based Mac instead of through Rhapsody. With limited resources,
this focus has meant that some other areas haven't seen as much
attention as some of the developers would like.
Yes, RB developers bitch and moan. From what I can tell however, is that
75% of the time, after two days of complaining, it turns out it was the
RB developers oversight (fault) after all.
I'm just poking around with RB, but so far, the change hasn't been too
bad. I just need to remember to include a "THEN" after my "IF" commands
plus put a space in between my "END" and "IF". <bg>
Perhaps I should create a small "Hello Fox World" application and
publish it for Window, Mac, and Linux and let you all download and run
it. In all of my spare time... <g>

Anything with "basic" in the title (or behind the scenes) gets a
knee-jerk reaction here. I probably ought to revisit that idea, but
so little time and so much to do 8-(
