I don't think it's OT. "NF" I suppose.

The question of whether old programmers are good ones is pretty fundamental to us all professionally. Now if we can just get by trite "tortoise & hare" cliches, it'll be worthwhile.

I do find myself more tired of having to learn 'tips and tricks' like I enjoyed in the 2.x days. I can't imagine putting up with GENSCRNX hacks and arguing about snippetizing vs desnippetizing over a beer or seven.

Much more interested in the business angle - how are people using this app?

For me, I am over 50, but still enjoying learning a new language. I keep forgetting to put the &^%%$# ";" at the end of each #$%&|@#$% line. Is that a sign of senility? Would I have remembered it better when I was younger. I don't know, I can't remember back that far. <g>

I DO love learning new stuff. Any more, now, actually, that's more fun than the doing. I've got about ten new books 'in me', just a-waitin' to burst out. All sorts of topics, for things that I don't think are well documented now.

I've long said that I retired when I was 30 and started doing Fox full time. I just LOVE this stuff. Although if I never see another one-off of a parent-child form, 'twon't be too soon.

Kinda looking forward to seeing what happens in the next five years with the Web. Ajax and Web 2.0 just scream out "HACK" and "BAG ON THE SIDE OF A BOX" to me. Clever, maybe, but not well-engineered.

The OTHER problem with aging and programming is that I can't eat all the crap while coding like I used to. Was a time I could put down an entire bag of Oreos and a couple of beers during an all-evening programming session. Not no more, nosirree bob.

As they say, "A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the fingertips." And fat fingertips in this business relegate you to being a second tier programmer working support in New Delhi for the rest of your life.
