Steve volunteered for the Army in 1963, BTW. He was given a medical
discharge in 1964 for lung disease he got at Fort Ord during training, so he
never went to Vietnam.

You are right about some of it, but the troops Kennedy sent were
advisers. Johnson was the one who made Vietnam Vietnam.
