My daughter has DirectTV satellite here (got it before cable was
available here) that I've been sharing and signal loss only happens
rarely, so I wouldn't discount satellite for that reason.

I would go with cable, though, because you can also get good Internet
connection (and phone) with it.

Some sort of TIVO setup is an imperative these days. Those commercials
are mind-numbing.
