 He said Hezbollah had expected "the usual, limited response" from
Israel to the July 12 cross-border raid, in which three Israelis were
killed.
...
 He said the Shiite group had anticipated there would be negotiations
on exchanging the Israeli soldiers for three Lebanese prisoners in
Israeli jails, with Germany acting as a mediator as it did before.

Doh!

Maybe next time they'll think a little harder before committing
provocative acts of war.

Nevermind, I forgot: It's always the Jews' fault.

Were it not for the four legs of the Giant Hopping
Zionist/Neo-Con/Big-Oil/US Military Industrial Complex Quadraped, why,
none of this awful fighting would be happening.

Poor Hezbullah just wants its trained murderers released from jail so
they can ratchet up more violent terrorist attacks against Israeli
citizens, with three cheers from the peanut galleries in Brussels and
Tehran---is that too much to ask for? Jeez.

Nobody cares about the plight of the little guy anymore. Damn, the
injustice of it all!

On a serious note, let's make a few observations before Bill launches
into another pseudo-Jungian attack on straw man Straussian political
notions:

1.) Hezbullah started the current conflagration of the conflict by
kidnapping and killing Israeli soldiers---in most civilized parts of
the world that still qualifies as an act of war, justifying a military
response;

2.) They did so (now openly) thinking they'd get Yet Another
Opportunity to wheel-and-deal for dangerous criminals that have been
locked up in Israeli jails after trying to enter Israel to commit acts
of terrorism against its citizens (also arguably an act of war);

3.) The Israelis have had to "restrain themselves" since Gulf War I
when they were provoked and showed "the usual, limited response" to
which the Hezbullah whack job refers. This "limited response" has been
ongoing in the tragicomical farse otherwise known as the "middle east
peace process" ever since;

4.) Faced with the possibliity now that their actions may have far
more adverse consequences than they previously considered or
experienced, they will have to modify their calculus a bit.

I know, I know, Bill: Now nothing will stop them from doing Really,
Really Bad Things! Well, nothing except getting the crap kicked out of
them for a change. As if anything was really stopping them before, or
what they were doing before was benign.

I know you think Israel is the bully here (and always), but observe
objectively if you will please the words of the political
representative of Hezbullah himself and consider that those of us who
view appeasement of terrorists as a major cause of the ongoing problem
in the middle east have at least SOME reason and evidence for what we
believe.
