Maybe that bit's not released yet... Yeah the final release works this way - it just copies an image onto your HDD and then works from there. So for an upgrade from XP it just installs seperately then migrates settings into Vista. This is a good thing for admins who push out central installs etc. -- Alan Bourke [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================================ IMHO, that is a lot of crap. What does the present install do? No compiles, just copies DLLs from the CD to the hard drive. OK, so there is some file allocation taking place which adds some overhead. But wasn't NTFS supposed to be like really quick? So the image business is basically an artifice. Instead of loading 35 gazillion little files, it will load one gargantuan file (help if there is a badspot on the disk) and probably save 5 minutes on the install. Why only 5 minutes? Don't forget the 3000+ APIs and the classic renditions and the XP renditions and now the Vista renditions. Oh, and that section of code that remains to support cga graphics on a Komodo 13" CRT for AutoCad 1.0. That's gotta get loaded too!
