I think it depends what kind of game. Some work well with a console controller, others don't.
Becoming less and less the case as next generations arrive. The xBox 360 stacks up pretty well against your average non-cutting-edge PC gaming rig. For a few hundred (insert currency here).
I'm waiting for a Wii myself <insert joke here>. I'm not really a huge gamer but this does look interesting.
