"Even before the bombs fell on Baghdad, a group of senior Pentagon officials were plotting to invade another country. Their covert campaign once again relied on false intelligence and shady allies. But this time, the target was Iran. BY JAMES BAMFORD"
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/10962352/iran_the_next_war/1 Bamford puts together a lot of stuff some of us have seen before, but he's a pretty good writer with a lot of facts and an absorbing case that Iran duped the neocons (via Chalabi) into the Iraq invasion so Saddam would be ousted and Iraq would fall under Iran's control ... But that the neocons have long been working on getting us to invade Iran ... and how very close we are to doing exactly that. That is, the plan is very much alive and in motion, witness all the reminders of where Hezbollah is getting weapons and money from. In a nutshell, the ME war is going to widen, perhaps with Syria first, but ultimately the neocons are targeting Iran. The article ends with a neocon (Ledeen) saying: "Only the United States can accomplish it," he concluded. "There is no other way." Then you'll see Ledeen's rebuttal to the article, and Bamford's response to the rebuttal. I don't know if anyone else sees this writing all over the wall, but that ME war is going to expand to include at least Iran and at most several countries. In case anyone hasn't noticed, we don't have the troops to invade a country of 60 million people, so that leaves just one choice: nukes. If you're like me, this whole thing has been absolutely unbelievable since the very beginning, yet it actually happened anyway. Now it's becoming clear that all we've seen so far is just a preclude.
