What does the airline-bombing plot tell us?

1. the enemy's loosely-coupled, asynchronous organization allows for
multiple unconnected groups to operate concurrently without knowledge of
the others. The reason the authorities took action when they did boiled
down to their not knowing if there were other participants getting ready
at the same time, so they moved to foil them all by stopping anyone from
bringing liquids onto planes. It was the only thing they could do, but
it did reveal how disconnected from each other these groups are.

2. this must have been a larger plot. Why? Because the group that was
caught were all Pakistanis. If you recall, the 9/11 plot involved mostly
Saudis - because they were the people Bin Laden trusted the most.
However, that drew attention to Saudi Arabia, a fact that wasn't acted
on, but could have been. Undoubtedly enemy leaders took note of this
discrepancy and resolved to deal with it by assembling groups from as
many countries as possible to blur/obviate the connection between a
state and themselves. From this standpoint, the Pakistani's that were
captured would have been only one piece of a larger group.

3. this event makes plain the fact that our enemy remains intent on
attacking us in a big way. Yes, this approach was discovered and
pre-empted, but that will not stop them, it will just cause them to
change tactics. It's not been played up, but the facts are that our
enemy has grown in numbers and sophistication. We couldn't have made
this situation worse if we tried.

4. Our rulers are now calling for even tighter security, of course.
Since we're in rule-by-fear mode, we're not paying attention to the fact
that every tightening of security has a corresponding detrimental
impact on our freedoms and liberties. We've gone from zero to 30 million
cameras on our streets. Can anyone spot the progression there?

Our greatest problem isn't the enemy abroad at all, it's the mindset of
the gang that's running this country and their friends in the media.
"They keep saying it on TV, so it must be right" is evidence that most
of the people can be fooled most of the time, but they are wrong, wrong,
wrong. The first steps in really solving this problem are to purge our
gov't of their thinking, and to bust up the "news" stranglehold.
Together they are taking us down the staircase to Hell, one step at a
time.

In the meanwhile, buckle up, because there will be another attack
against us; and there will be more clamping down on our freedoms and
liberties, and by the time we realize that we're living in a police
state, we'll never know what hit us.
