You've got that right. The first thing I thought of was who's going to
enter/maintain all that data?

Steve always comes up with the goods. So what if he can't spell?
Frankly, I have my doubts about the automation of a salvage operation. Historically,
AFAIK, these are family owned and operated and are strictly cash and carry. Documented
organization is an anathema. That "little black book" has been the downfall of
many entrepreneurs. YMMV.
Automotive systems should be AVOIDED at all costs! I know, I still
curse Larry Stewart the man who said "I just need a program to print
out a contract." 17 years later and I still know him by name.
My brain hurt just thinking of what a salvage lot system would need to
do. What do you code for and what do you just assume is there? As the
piece of iron is out on your space how do you account for the personal
part pullers that yank what they need from your back 40?
Do you inventory glass and then update it as it's broken over the years?
Putting the data on the net is easy. Deciding what is real inventory is
the question.
