My daughter and wife INSISTED (after many times of complaining) that I put MS Word back onto the family PC, that they did not want to use OpenOffice just because it wasn't what they were used to. M$ is established and has a strong foothold/following with non-computer ("regular") folks. This is a perfect example, imo.

Simple enough to handle. Tell them the next time Word or other MS Office things act up, they can fix it themselves. That was enough for my wife. :-)

Are there some things that can be tweaked in OO to make it more Office-like (e.g. placement of menu items etc)?
