Thanks to all for the kind words re the Prague writeup. I'm currently composing the summary for today which was just excellent by the way!.
Malcolm, we trapped YAG this evening and asked him about the Next release of VFP and his words were that they had not devided how to number the releases once Sedna is fully up and running so I for one am going to opt for VFP 10. Andy asked if there was any possibility of a VFPEXpress to fit in with an the othe "Express" products and YAG's response was a firm NO. He sighted the lack of resources in the team to do the testing and also said that M$ would only want to release the current technology - so a freebie release of VFP7 is also out of the question as well. It was a storming session by Craig on COM+ which I got a LOAD of ideas from (I'll be blogging them at length later on tonight I hope). However this is not for the fain hearted as Craig indicated that ALL the VFP team told him the ideas and implimentation design he had just would not work with VFP. In true Foxer fashion though he showed us COM+ remote machine interaction which believe me - you have never seen before. Doug was as professional and smooth as ever with his session on mining for Gold in XSource. Gee, this guy really knows his way around any subject he talks on in minute detail. - so thank you personally well done Doug. Everyone came away from both sessions with their heads buzzing with ideas - a favourite of mine I'll outline in the Blog but it really blew Craig away. It joins in some concepts mentioned yesterday with COM+ but that is all I'm saying for now. However from Craigs response it may well upset the Microsoft Higherarchy! In conclusion, my coverall impression on the two days has been EXCELLENT and where's the place to book for next year is all I can say. Igor was as welcoming as ever and asked us to spread the word. Just under 300 people this year is a little down on last year and we all thought that it may well have been due to the fear of Microsoft turning the event into a .NET promotion. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact the session by YAG on LINQ was a pleasant view of how .NET folks are enjoying the joys of Data Centric development for the first time ever! Anyhow, back to the War and Peace novel! Dave Crozier PS, Malcolm, all Americanisms and spellings are to be removed from VFP in SP2 by special request from the Brits, so get used to Colour!!! <BG> _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
