database to excel is not a problem. excel to database is very tricky because excel's column widths are not equivalent to field widths. it is not worth the trouble. the idea here is to get the dBase stuff into the VFP IDE because it is so much more advanced than the native IDE. converting the data from one form to another and back again is just the means to that end.
