Totally agree with the sentiments in this blog. This nasty business exemplifies everything that has gone wrong with the party.

I dread the thought of Democratic control of the Congress. But at the moment I'm starting to think the current crop of Republicans all need to be tossed out on their asses, consequences be damned. They've brought shame on themselves and disgraced everybody who believed what they stood for. And if they cannot be trusted to police pedophiles among them, how the hell can they be trusted to do the right thing on any level? They've now officially sold all their principles down the river, not just their fiscal principles.

No more "compassionate" conservatism. We need queer log cabin Republicans like Foley and other RINOs like we need daggers in our hearts and Democrats in control of our pocketbooks. We are about to get both now, thanks to "leadership" like Hastert et al.

This having been said, I note with some irony now the Democrats suddenly care about character and powerful people preying on pages and interns and such... that is rich. But there is no excuse anyway for Hastert's willful negligence in this case, and a pox upon him despite the almost hypocrisy and rank opportunism of the Democrats. (How these IMs and emails are worse than what Clinton did with a real cigar and a blue dress eludes me, but still: no excuses for it, and Foley should now rot in jail as far as I'm concerned, and Hastert should resign his leadership post at the least.)

Time to spray Congress down with some Lysol. The place stinks. (And no, i don't harbor any illusions that the party of McGreavy and Barney Frank are going to freshen it up much when they get their paws on power....)
