OK, let's just shoot them instead. Non-violent drug offenders cause a ton of petty crimes. Many of the nation's homeless are drug-addicted. They defecate and urinate on the streets, they harass people who pass them, and are just a nuisance in general. Additionally they have unwanted children who grow up feral. Finally, they cause millions of dollars in lost productivity to the employers that employ them.
