My postal worker friends say the USPS does the same thing...keeps mostly a part-time workforce so they don't have to pay benefits and overtime. WalMart might claim to do it for the customers, but we all know better....it's to keep the labor costs down. Sure, sometimes you gotta do that, and throwing more low wage earners on a shift to better customer service or customer throughput seems to make sense, but at what cost to your employees?
