=> Subject: [OT] Why is "actress" a bad word?
=>
=>  From http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061002/ap_en_ce/people_clooney:
=>
=> "She's the best actor working today. Not actress, she's an actor.
=> Intimidating, in a way, to work with an actor that good."

=> Years ago (16?) I knew a girl who's sister was an aspiring
=> actress, but she insisted on being called an "actor," not an
=> "actress." What's the big deal????

This is part of a long-term planned effort to eliminate all differences between
the sexes. The advantage is that homosexual activity will not be discernable
from heterosexual activity in writing and speech. Some parts of society are
moving toward this end faster than others but eventually it will all even out.

I was recently chastised for calling someone a secretary instead of an
executive assistant. When men were men and some actors were actresses, being a
secretary was something to be proud of. Private secretary was even more
honorific. I don't understand it. The woman who berated me can be routinely
found getting the boss his coffee or doing other menial tasks that secretaries
have done for decades.
