With all these allegations about Speaker Hastert's involvement or
non-involvement in a cover-up, how are we to know just what happened?
Americans are fairly unanimous that if he knowingly covered for a
pedophile, then he should be removed from office and charged as an
accomplice. But how will we ever know for sure?
The answer is simple: torture Hastert.
That's the best way to get information, according to the Bush
Administration. Only with torture can we ever hope to learn what al-
Qaeda is up to, so it stands to reason that strapping Hastert to a
water board and dunking him in a tank until he almost drowns would
certainly be the most effective means of getting to the truth. Or
perhaps attaching electrodes to his genitals - that might work, too.
Since torture is now socially acceptable among Americans, we should
take full advantage of the cultural climate to really get to the
heart of the matter. We certainly have much more convincing evidence
against Hastert than we do against the other people we have tortured,
so this should be a slam-dunk.
