You're correct; they were invented in the UK at GSK's Central Labs.

Despite having sales for that one drug of £700,000,000 last year, in the UK 
they cost £6.65 per prescription irrespective of the quantity or the drug 
dispensed.

GSK are a British company and generated £9,800,000,000 profit in the last 6 
months.

Once again thank you for overpaying for your drugs, it helps keep our 
medications at a reasonable price and generates a sizable tax bill for the UK 
government which goes in part to pay for our health service.
