This is about condiments yet you reference the use as an ingredient.
Or he knew that he had to FIX the baseline favor of catchup in the
vinaigrette.

80g shallots, very finely chopped
1tbs chervil, finely chopped
1tbs chives, finely chopped
1tbs tarragon, finely chopped
1/2tbs Worcestershire sauce
100g tomato ketchup
8 drops of Tabasco sauce
300ml olive oil
50ml white wine vinegar

Or 3oz of catchup in 10 fl oz of olive oil, 2 to 3 oz of vinegar.

I bet that putting in a touch of vinegar cider or malt in standard
catchup an a drop of Worcestershire would make the final product much
better then straight out of the bottle.  Too bad that at the hot dog
stand they give you stuff straight out of the bottle or can.
