Windows 7 was the 2009 version of the answer to all our problems. (Our problems were codenamed 'Vista') Now, it's new and improved! Brighter brights! Whiter whites! With tailfins! Years ago, I watched one of these dog-and-pony release-day shows where Bill Gates admitted quite frankly that, yes, he was telling you that you should replace all your Windows Version X-1 installations with Windows X, and that you could count on him appearing again in two or three years to tell you that now you needed to replace them all with Version X+1. It was a startlingly-honest admission. The view from the gerbil wheel doesn't change all that much, does it? We could say similarly snide things about OS X "Tiger" I suspect.
