I too, found this to be a pain, so I don't use Checkbox labels. Rather I have objecxts on the form, the checkbox and the label that goes with it. I can place the label anywhere I want then. With my base class checkbox, I set autosize=.t. and no captions. A bit of a kludge, but it works!
