Right...VFP is only a piece of the puzzle for my personal workstation. I'm also trying to learn Python and I do a fair amount of PHP (Not PCP!) and web development.
I know VFP is single-thread...oh boy, do I ever. I get a lot of complaints about "I had to shut down your app because it said "Not Responding"..." Oye, give it a chance...Windows 7 is awfully quick to condemn an application for not responding. Anyway, I know tomorrow is another day, demands for memory, storage, and CPU face-time are constantly increasing, and my own patience for waiting while an app paints the screen with purty graphics (ooooooooh! did you see the puppy?!) ....but somewhere there is a sweet spot of $$$ vs. Horsepower and when I'm spending MY money, I'm careful to search for that sweetest of sweet spot. Thanks for the thought-cycles...anyone else have experience with Quad vs Dual cores on the desktop for general computing? I did see on VFPx that there's a project called Parallel Fox to help Foxpro applications take advantage of multiple processors, iirc. _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
