Be aware that Intuit makes subtle changes with pretty much every 
release...some changes are not-so-subtle and may affect your integration 
efforts due to data structure and api changes.

In general, my experience has been that if you use Intuit's payroll 
maintenance, you will be forced to upgrade from time to time or suffer 
termination of payroll upgrades. That means that your app's integration 
will need to be tested with each annual release (which you probably 
already know.) Fun fun fun...

Michael:  You might be able to pick up a previous year from a friend or
client that upgrades every year.  You will still be able to accomplish
what you want.  I'm still using 2007 with no problems at all.
