Mike, I uploaded a demo of using what was then "Microsoft Virtual Earth" and is now Bing maps, onto Ed's download page.
That may start you off but I guess the SDK has changed a little. I'll resurrect it if I can and re-jig it over the weekend if I have time. I guess the basics will remain the same.
