Here's an article from The Atlantic. Yeah, people might not get hurt so bad if they back up data locally. Yeah, email is a stupid mechanism for storing data.
Thing is, hundreds of millions of ordinary people are now RELYING on this technology, and the technology--and the marketing thereof and the training therefor--are NOT designed for, or sufficiently secure for, the average user. Nevertheless, the companies that sell this technology are happily raking in the bucks for selling a service that is not secure on its own and is not simple enough for the average person to use safely. And if you ask the companies that sell this stuff about it, instead of accepting responsibility, they blame their customers for their ignorance. Is this the way we should be doing business? http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2011/11/hacked/8673/ Ken Dibble www.stic-cil.org _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
