Hi Everybody, http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/10/27/alabama-tries-to-connect-jobless-residents-with-farm-jobs-finds-few-employers/ "Potato farmer Kevin Smith told The Associated Press that the Americans he hired show up late, work slower and are ready to call it quits after a day on the job or sooner. "I've had people calling me wanting to work," Smith said. "I haven't turned any of them down, but they're not any good. It’s hard work, they just don’t work like the Hispanics with experience." So what it is really about is human machines, never mind if they are legal. These guys want to pay piecework, temporarily, at a rate where you have to be very fast, never take a break and still not make minimum wage. Oh, yeah, bring your own boxes, too. I have picked produce as a younger person. It is hard, but not impossible. However, when I picked it was a family farm and everyone in the field was either family or a neighbor. -- Regards, Pete http://pete-theisen.com/ http://elect-pete-theisen.com/ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
