I was looking at http://www.simtel.net to get listed as a shareware author
and noticed that RegNow had a free offer valid until the 31st of October -
A Free Account Activation (normally 19.95).
RegNow is a good payment stream processor for software, not only shareware
software. I also noticed that they have an affiliate network - so if you
list your software with RegNow you can also get your software listed in
their affiliate marketing channels (there's a cost per sale, but it's
after the fact) .
Ya. Only 16% charge per sale, and if you provide a standard affiliate
commission, you'll see your total cost per sale go up to nearly 50%.
Regnow is the most expensive in the biz-- and they've LOWERED their
prices(at the cost of passing on chargebacks to their customers)!!!
FYI, The $19.95 regnow sign-up is an affiliate product. If you have a
site, you can promote it and make $19.95 per signup-- or you can
discount it as an affiliate, taking it out of your commission. You can
do that on any product you sell as an affiliate for RegNow. Some
vendors get pissed at this, of course-- even though it comes out of
the affiliate commission, the vendors believe it takes away more sales
from direct channels(and they're right-- I've had it happen too many
times).
