I have a Sony X series laptop with 128 gb drive. I bought it in August 2010 and
it works perfectly. I have a 2 year
warantee that covers everything they say.

I should add that this is the best laptop I have owned. It weighs nothing and
is thin as paper. It has Win 7, vga, 2 usb
and ethernet, sound, etc. I use it at user meetings to control several routers,
TV display. I wifi to my Sprint HTC 4g
evo with hotspot, connect to a Belkin Router and it will allow many users to
have 4g internet access. I am looking
forward to the new ASUS prime tablet with bluetooth keyboard when it comes out
later this month.

Subject: NF SSD experiences

I know this topic has been hashed around before on the list, but has
anyone had more than a couple months experience with SSDs? (solid state
drives)

Intel has just announced their new line of SSDs that have multiple (10)
I/O channels for servers that are multi-processor or multi-core CPU
designed. I realize that VFP might not actually take advantage of the
multi-core CPU or multi I/O channels for the storage subsystem, but it
could be pretty beneficial for a virtual server supporting multiple users.

The problem with SSDs that have me hesitating from trying is that they
reportedly have a very high failure rate (compared to traditional
spinning disk drives). The most convincing "expose" I read was on a
hardware/technology website where the consensus was that if you get 6
months to a year out of an SSD, you're living on thin ice. (Not because
of the original problem of the storage wearing out due to repeated
writes, but because of the drive just failing to boot suddenly.)

The pricing (due to conventional drive pricing being high after the
monsoons) is getting attractive...anyone actually had an SSD long enough
to have a good track record?
