May not be the way you want to go, but...

But check out at the tools at www.slysoft.com, I've been using them for years
to make backups of my DVD's and take them with me on the HD of my notebook.
Works great when going on vacation and the kids can watch their movies without
bringing the actual disks with us.

If you don't want her to have to 'mount' a drive image file use CloneDVDMoble
and make an MP4 file that can be accessed and indexed via iTunes, or some other
format that plays in Media Player.

YMMV, but it works for me. :)

Subject: [NF] Way to legally download (and own) movies?

I'm a neophyte when it comes to online entertainment. I know about bit
torrent, and pirate sites, but is there a way to legally purchase,
download, and *own* a movie (as opposed to "you can watch it for up to
48 hours)?

I'm trying to get a movie for my mom, but also trying to get her more
hooked on the laptop we got her. If I just give her a DVD, she'll watch
the boob tube. But if I can install it on her laptop, she may actually
click something on her laptop.

Any suggestions?
