Believe it or not, you can make your WAP signal directional. Put some aluminum foil behind it and create a parabola which will reflect the signal towards the intended targets. I had to do this on my Linksys router which is located on the first floor. My wife's pc couldn't get a strong enough signal, until I did that. There was no place to put a higher db antenna, so I did the next best thing.
