        It's not going away for the foreseeable future. However, more and more 
people are uncomfortable with betting their company on a proprietary product 
controlled by a single company. Sound familiar?

        The recent withdrawal of the Apache foundation from the Java Community 
Process has been the most visible sign of unrest in the Java world; I've also 
heard from the Java devs I know that there is now some pushback when they 
suggest writing new projects in Java; however, there is such a huge base of 
Java code out there, even if no one starts a new Java project from now on, Java 
will be with us for decades.
