Yep. The kid was caught with stolen merchandise and a screwdriver when he was suspended from school in October, so he was probably casing the neighborhood looking for a quick score.

I don't like the "Justice Brothers" (Rev Al and Jessie Jackson) but Rev Al I think said that, and he's right. HOWEVER, if the kid did punch Zimmerman and bang his head on the ground repeatedly, then yes, it sounds as though Zimmerman acted in self-defense. In hindsight, he shouldn't have shot him fatally; he should have went for the kid's extremities or something. What's sad about our society is that if this were a white-on-white or black-on-black or same-color crime, it wouldn't have gotten any of this news coverage and protest. Plus, I don't like that the kid was 17 and they're only showing photos of him when he was 12. I need to research that, but that's what I was told. Seems purposely deceitful.
