Bill and Michael, Thanks for your suggestions. I wrote my own splitter class and it works it fine. And I'm familar with Outlook's splitters.
My challenge: I'm sure I've seen apps whose splitters collapse vs. freeze at a min margin, but I can't remember the nuances of how the collapse or expansion happens or the names of the apps themselves. I'm also looking for feedback on the merits (or not<g>) or collapsible vs. resizable gui components.
