Just basic stuff. Open a file, read through it and gather data to create an
import file into another system.

We asked a few stations/companies if they could send us data electronically,
and so far the first two responses have been in Excel format and one in PDF.
All we need is a simple text file with about 10 elements of data in it! Lol
Actually one of the Excel sheets I can work with easily, it is just a header
row and then row upon row of data. The other is going to be fun, it is
literally a report from their own system pasted into an Excel spreadsheet with
page headers and footers, group headers and footers, page footers,.. etc.
Going to be fun parsing through that one line at a time!

IMHO for an industry that was built on technology, the back-office functions of
the television industry is still in the dark ages.

So far my results have been less than encouraging:

SpreadSheet Gear: Could not get their sample application to convert to VS2010.
 Interesting that this product
actually includes a full UI, I used Aspose cells years ago
and it did not have that.

Aspose.Cells: Could not get past their overly protective capcha system to
download the evaluation.
They have not responded to my email yet.

Lou

There are a lot of bolt ons to Excel from a .NET POV. What are you trying to
do?
