Q: Were the DBFs, and particularly the indexes, created in 2.5 or in VFP? If 2.5, I'd suspect there's some difference in the file/header formats. I recommend opening the DBFs in VFP 9, copying them to a temporary copy, indexing that in VFP 9, then browse and see what happens.
