What happens there is new console hardware is released which is at or
around the capability (graphically) of current mid to high end gaming
PCs. People spend a couple of years announcing the death of the PC as a
gaming platform, until about 6 or 7 years later when the consoles really
show their age, and the PC is blowing them away again. The cycle then
repeats.
