This is just a personal observation. I have been having some problems with a French correspondent of mine. Actually, I have always been impressed by the fact that there seems to be a lot more Europeans who speak English than Americans who speak Spanish or French or German or Portuguese or Flemish or Gaelic, etc. etc. Notice that I said "it seems." My conclusion has no scientific or statistical basis and I probably have a jaundiced view of the world because it is based on my internet experience and the fact that I am American.
