If you've got any Android phone Google Maps/Navigation gives you free GPS software. Works as well as Tomtom etc. Audio navigation etc. You do need a data plan, but you can cache map areas (not sure that works with navigation).
Personally I've never had an issue with the small GPS antenna in my £100 phone. Or the one in my watch for that matter...
