My company uses AdAware SE Enterprise from Lavasoft. We got an update
from them and I installed it according to their instructions. The
install was supposed to copy the settings from the old to the new. It
did not. No big deal, I will do it manually; it's just a few folders
and files.

So I do it. And between the time the copy finishes and I open the
control program (perhaps a minute) the files that I replaced are back in
the folder and my updates are gone. So I am thinking it is Friday
afternoon, the end of a busy week. Maybe I am just getting confused
with folder names and filenames and such. Let it sit until Monday.

So it's Monday now and I very carefully set up all the files in a
folder, double-check the shortcut, and run the program. It works but
there are a few things I need to change. So I open the settings file
(it's just text in an XML costume) and I make the very, very minor
changes. Then I open the program to see how my changes look and they
are not there. The settings file reverted. I did this several times
always with the same result.

Anyone have any ideas about this? The platform is Win2K Server SP4,
fully updated.

I have seen this happen before but it was XP and it was windows system
files. Some process keeps track of critical files and replaces them
with copies from the I386 folder if they appear to be changed.

Help!
