So as it turns out I talked someone in to climbing down off their
wallet and forking over the $$$ for the software tool I mentioned.
Actually, as far as I can tell the product works really well....

BUT I have the oddest problem... the timestamp on the SQL DB's is from
around 2012-07-12, yet they've been using the system all summer long.
Looking in the tables the latest records more or less match that same
date. It's like everything since mid July went POOF!

I know that those DB timestamps can be a bit misleading, but my
understanding is that they get updated whenever the SQL service is
stopped/started.

Anyhoo - the data is GONE as far as I can tell... it's almost like it
never got written to disk all summer long or something....
